Initially I had a lot of reservations about entrusting my daughter to complete strangers. It was a leap of faith was we felt we had nowhere else to turn. It wasn’t until I spoke to her and knew she was safe that I felt more assured.
2. Do you feel they were treated with respect by the staff? Please explain.
I believe she was treated with respect when she showed respect. 2 way street.
3. Do you feel they were mistreated in anyway (emotionally, physically, verbally, etc)? Please explain.
No. I believe the ERA process is well structured and my daughter always felt very safe while she was here.
4. Do you feel their medical concerns/needs handled in a timely and professional manner? Explain.
Yes. She was not on any medications while here.
5. What feedback did you receive from your child concerning the food service?
She loved the food and commented often about the quality.
6. Which staff do you feel your child benefitted most from?
Aside from the therapists, Kaitlyn was the one she spoke most fondly of. She also said she learned from Cici, Jon and Jericho.

We learned to practice the tool of saying, “so what I’m hearing you say is”

Absolutely. In addition to the items mentioned above, the overall aspect of better communication is at the root of resolving conflict.
10. What feedback would you give your therapist in dealing with your family?
I think he does an outstanding job of getting to the crux of issues and allows us to discuss them openly and in a way that both sides can express themselves.
11. How do you feel your child benefited from the academic program? Please explain.
She graduated high school which was extremely important because she could not go back to her old high school after all the things that happened.
12. Which seminar had the greatest impact on you and why?

13. What was the turning point in your trust in our program?
Second home visit I started to believe she had truly changed.
14. What was the most effective part of the program?
For me it was the counseling sessions with Dan where my daughter talked about he progress and we continued to work through our issues.
15. What would you recommend to improve the quality and effectiveness of our program?
A few minutes with the therapist without the student each week would help the parents understand if their child was progressing and how they felt about her progress.
16. Do you feel comfortable with the after care plan and your child’s transition home? Explain
Yes, Darrell explained what to expect and the home rules were stressed as an important aspect of aftercare.
17. Would you recommend our program to other parents? Would you be willing to be a parent reference?
Most defiantly and would be happy to be a parent reference for others.

We had a trouble teen and didn’t know where to turn. Today I have a completely different daughter coming home. Thank You!

Yes, we even had Utah CPS make a safety check visit. Dough could have used that visit as a way to leave, but he told the case worker he was comfortable ERA.

Yes. Dough may not have always agreed with boundaries he accepted them (for most part). It was consistent for all

No. The one rime Doug was restrained, we were alarmed, Doug made us feel better, it explained it as scary but needed and not harmful

Yes. Doug had some minor health issues and each time they were addressed promptly
5. What feedback did you receive from child concerning the food service?
Denise makes great food, Choc chip, pumpkin pancakes and oatmeal is my favorite.

In an ironic way, Russ. Doug was uncomfortable with Russ screaming and learned how to handle this conflict in a productive appropriate way rather than avoiding him or reacting negatively.

Annie was able to explain Doug’s NCD issues in a way that made sense to us.

More tools for handing situation that may result in family conflict ways to help deescalate.

Megan was amazing. Doug never thought he would graduate high school. Before he knew it he graduated!

Seminar 2. The stretches although painful and difficult helped me have a greater appreciation of how hard Dough worked.

When Dough was finally able to push through his stalemate of accountability.The follow through accomplishments were hard earned, never patronized or given.

The day to day consistency. Doug learned to forge positive peer relationships

There can always be move communication with parents regarding the structure and explanation of moving through the program. Also a couple of parents only therapy calls where parent can discuss some more sensitive concerns and get guidance before discuss with their child.

Undecided at this point. We have been promised other after care programs that were not available to us. We are glad that Doug already has a rapport with Darrell.

Yes. Absolutely.

The weekly pictures-Fabulous glimpse info our child’s life. Jake is a miracle- he was able to put Doug on appropriate meds almost instantly. Other psychiatrists were not able to hit a medication program that worked. Denise was a positive influence on Doug of all the employees, Doug enjoyed helping her most.

Yes. I don’t take meds but when I got headaches I was able to take meds to help.

SO good! Yes, the food was delicious and the cook never let us leave hungry, she spoiled us with desert when we ate our fruits and vegetables.

Yes. Dan is very good at being a mediator and staying calm and collective. He was able to help me understand my parents, and my parents understand me.

You’re very good at listening to me and helping me understand different points of view. You helped me with my self esteem and I appreciate the way you dealt with me when I was disrespectful.

I graduated high school! I did two years of high school here in 9 months. Megan helped me so much to achieve this. I also took my SAT.

Seminar 2. I stopped holding onto everything. I took back my power and set myself free. I loved seminar 2.

Seminar 2. It helped me stop putting us walls and smiling things off.

Facing my abuser. Without ERA I would have never realized what he did was wrong.

During impact letters it seems as though everyone personalizes and gets upset over their actions. Sometimes the feedback is unnecessarily harsh. I think feedback can be supportive and not attacking.

Yes. I am aware of triggers and having a set of rules to follow will keep me grounded.
